Significant Base and Precious Metal Results From Monte Alban Property, Mexico

Highlights of the eight holes for which results have been received include:

Hole DSJ-03   - 3.95 meters of 0.92 g/t Au, 19.36 g/t Ag, 0.18% Cu, 2.3% Pb and 2.42% Zn
Hole DSJ-08 - 2.10 meters of 0.11 g/t Au, 143.21 g/t Ag, 1.54% Cu, 7.65% Pb and 9.41 % Zn

Vancouver, Canada, February 5, 2008: Aurea Mining Inc. (TSX-V:MXA, FRA: A9M) is pleased to report on assays from the initial eight holes drilled on its Monte Alban property near the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. To the end of 2007 the company completed a total of 3,985 meters of drilling in 14 diamond drill holes.

The holes tested the San Jorge Vein system along a two kilometer strike length that was historically mined for precious metals but which did not utilize modern exploration methods. Aurea's Phase 1 drill program tested the system below previous workings (approximately 120 meters below surface) and along strike extensions of the veins. Some holes did not reach the intended target due to structural complexities and others drilled into thick sections of anomalous pathfinder elements (barium and arsenic) typically present in the higher parts of an epithermal system.

Holes DSJ - 01, 02, 03, 07 and 08 intersected the San Jorge or parallel veins, while holes 04, 05, and 06 tested stockwork mineralization observed on surface and, in retrospect, were not drilled deep enough to intersect the San Jorge Vein.

The company is very encouraged by both the base and precious metal values received from holes DSJ-03 and 08. This early stage drill program has confirmed the potential of the San Jorge Vein System and suggests the possibility of new and untested bonanza style mineralization to occur along strike and at depth. Previous operators concentrated work in the upper oxidized portions of the deposit and were not interested in the base metals in deeper portions of the workings since copper, lead and zinc prices were too low to warrant extraction. With today's metal prices the base metal values are of much greater interest.

The following table shows details of assays from each hole. Lengths are core lengths and are not true widths. Until more information is available true widths should be considered to be no more than 75% of the reported lengths.   Drill hole locations can be seen on Aurea's website at www.aureamining.com .

The remaining six holes drilled to date also tested the San Jorge Vein, but assays have not yet been received. The company plans to drill an additional 1000 meters on the Chicharra System which is six kilometers to the northwest from San Jorge and is thought to be an on-strike extension of the same vein system.

When the evaluation of the assays of all 14 holes has been completed, the Company will undertake an aggressive drill program to extend the known vein system.

Diamond drill core is split by company employees in a secure core shack near the drill site. Split samples are shipped to Guadalajara to ALS Chemex preparation laboratory where they are crushed and pulverized by standard procedures. A split of the pulp is then sent to the ALS Chemex laboratory in Vancouver for assaying. Gold is assayed by Chemex's AA23 method (fire assay with atomic absorption finish) and the remaining metals are assayed by Chemex's ICP-41 method (induced coupled plasma).
