Aurea Sur Project Update -- Vinatas Drilling Underway

Vancouver, B.C.: Aurea Mining Inc. ("Aurea" or "the Company") (TSX-V: MXA) reports that drilling is now underway at the Vinatas showing on its Aurea Sur project. Two preliminary holes are planned as a first test of this promising showing where previous outcrop chip sample results have defined a 500m by 1000m gold anomaly at surface.

In a press release dated November 1, 2006, Aurea announced the results of a systematic outcrop chip sample program done as part of follow-up exploration at Vinatas. Follow up included semi-detailed mapping and systematic surface sampling over an initial 1000 by 500 meter area. Fifty nine of seventy two samples taken were anomalous in gold varying from a few ppb above background values, up to 0.846 g/ton gold. The better values are located within a higher grade core anomaly that extends 350 meters by 150 meters. The current drill program is designed to test the surface anomaly for continuity at depth. Results from this program will be used to plan further drilling in the area.

Las Vinatas, located 16 kilometres west of Goldcorp's Los Filos Project, is an emerging disseminated and stockwork gold target, with calc-silicate alteration exposed at surface. The gold-bearing stockwork veins are hosted within altered sediments and intermediate porphyry intrusions. Las Vinatas is characteristic of Guerrero Gold Belt-style mineralization and alteration and is important for its potential to host a bulk mineable open pittable mineralized zone at surface.

The Aurea Sur Project consists of four 100% controlled mineral claims which cover an area of over 21,000 hectares. The Aurea Sur project represents the southern portion of the over 80,000 hectare contiguous mineral claims held 100% by Aurea Mining Inc. The claims are strategically located within the Guerrero Gold Belt where over 10 million ounces of gold have already been discovered and are currently being developed by Goldcorp, Teck Cominco and Grupo Mexico (IMMSA).

ALS Chemex is the analytical laboratory for the project. Sample preparation is undertaken in Guadalajara, Mexico and analysis in Vancouver BC. Gold is assayed by fire assay with an AA finish. Ken Thorsen, a director of the Company, is the qualified person under NI 43-101 for Aurea Mining; and has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release.
