Aurea Sur Project Drilling Underway

Vancouver, BC: Aurea Mining Inc. ("Aurea") (TSX-V: MXA) is pleased to provide an exploration update on its Aurea Sur project in Guerrero State, Mexico.

The Aurea Sur Project consists of four 100% controlled mineral claims which cover an area of over 21 thousand hectares. The Aurea Sur project represents the southern half of the over 80,000 hectare contiguous land package held 100% by Aurea Mining Inc. This land package is strategically located within the Guerrero Gold Belt (GGB) where over 10 million ounces of gold have already been discovered and are currently being developed by Goldcorp, Teck Cominco and Grupo Mexico (IMMSA).

* The Company's 4,000 meter diamond-drill program is now underway, starting with the first gold prospect which is a 2 km. trend of GGB style alteration.

* The GGB style alteration includes hornfels, oxidized jasperoid, garnet and magnetite skarn outcroppings over 2km. along the contact with an altered intrusion. Co-incident geophysical anomalies underlie the area. This style of mineralization is similar to Goldcorp's Los Filos deposit.

* Three other high-priority drill targets have been identified from regional prospecting and mapping with strong GGB style characteristics.

* Airborne geophysical data confirms the presence of anomalies where the GGB style alteration occurs in the area of the four drill targets.

* Management anticipates that the drill program will continue into the fourth quarter of 2006.

* A total of six field geologists are actively pursuing the surface mapping and grid sampling programs and a total of 261 samples have already been sent to ALS Chemex with 233 assays pending.

* Subject to the evaluation of pending assays and further geological field results, additional prospects will be considered for inclusion in the Company's initial drill test program for this year's exploration program on the Aurea Sur Project.
